Inquest opens after woman, 57, dies of sepsis at Royal Stoke University Hospital



A 57-year-old grandmother has died in hospital after contracting sepsis.

Michele Duckworth passed away at Royal Stoke University Hospital after developing the deadly infection from an unknown source.

Michele, of Beech Drive, Kidsgrove, sadly died on February 23.

Now an inquest at Stoke’s civic centre has been opened and adjourned into her death.

North Staffordshire assistant coroner Margaret Jones said: “Her death has been reported to us as the cause of death is sepsis from an unknown souce.

“She was 57 years of age and died on February 23, 2020. She lived on Beech Drive in Kidsgrove and died at the Royal Stoke University Hospital.

“I’m adjourning this inquest to a date to be fixed.”
