Investigation launched after two men found with head injuries in Stoke-on-Trent


An investigation has been launched after two men were found with head injuries in Stoke-on-Trent.

Officers were called at around 10.45pm on Friday to the Sun Street area of Hanley, where the two men were found, by paramedics.

The pair were taken to the Royal Stoke University Hospital, where they remain in a stable condition.

Residents had yesterday reported Friday night’s incident had involved a machete-wielding attacker.

Police have cordoned off Warwick Street and Compton Street, in Hanley

A police cordon was put in place in nearby Compton Street, Warwick Street and Whitmore Street, with marked cars and vans stationed around the area.

A Staffordshire Police spokeswoman confirmed the investigation is ongoing and appealed for any witnesses to come forward.

She said: “At 10.45pm on Friday police were contacted by colleagues at West Midlands Ambulance Service following a report of two men with head injuries in the Sun Street area of Hanley.

“They were both taken to hospital – where they remain in a stable condition.

“A temporary police cordon was put in place as we carried out inquiries and we would like to thank local residents for their patience during this time.

“Detectives are continuing to investigate the circumstances and any witnesses or anyone with any information, is asked to contact 101, or report online, quoting incident number 820 of November 13.”
