An iconic and popular town centre bar and restaurant has closed down after more than 12 years.
Residence Restaurant & Bar, in Nantwich, has ceased trading ‘with immediate effect’ following a downturn in bookings over the last 12 months.
Owner Ben Rafferty announced the closure of the Mill Street venue, which also hosted weddings and functions, on Facebook.
His statement read: “It is with sincere and heartfelt sadness that I have made the decision to cease trading with immediate effect.
“It has been an epic journey over the last 12+ years, but we are now closed so that we can seek advice as to the best course of action.
“This weekend has seen a 50 per cent reduction year on year on bookings which has exacerbated an already very difficult financial position.
“I am so very sorry to all the affected staff and customers and especially to the weddings and functions that we were honestly hoping we could fulfil.
“More details will be posted in the coming weeks on our website.”
Residence opened inside a Georgian mansion in the town back in 2007 and has been a popular destination for visitors to the Nantwich Jazz & Blues Festival.
