JD Sports ‘looking at options’ for Go Outdoors

JD Sports has said it is looking at options for its camping gear stores Go Outdoors, after reports that bosses were poised to call in administrators.

The company said that while administrators have not yet been appointed, it has filed a notice to the court – the Press Association reports.

It said: “The group can confirm that it has considered a number of strategic options for Go and that Go’s directors have lodged the notice in court.

“This notice creates an immediate moratorium around the company and its property which lasts for 10 business days.

“During this moratorium, Go’s creditors cannot take legal action or continue with any existing legal proceedings against the company without the court’s permission.”

The only Go Outdoors store in North Staffordshire is on New Hall Street in Hanley, with the company’s website still listing it as ‘closed for essential maintenance’.

Other branches have reopened following the height of the Covid-19 pandemic, with social distancing measures in place.

Customers are being asked to be prepared to queue outside and follow guidelines once they’re inside.
