Lee Gregory set to return to Stoke City training as injury list shrinks

Lee Gregory is hoping to return to Stoke City training on Monday as Stoke City’s injury list finally starts to shrink.

Gregory has been ruled out since damaging both groins when he took a heavy whack at Sheffield Wednesday in late November.

That hasn’t helped Stoke at a time when Tyrese Campbell has been ruled out with a season-ending knee injury and Steven Fletcher has been struck down with knee and then groin issues.

But Fletcher is back in the squad for tomorrow’s trip to Rotherham and Gregory is hoping he won’t be too far behind.

“Lee is still working with the fitness team at this minute in time,” said Michael O’Neill.

“Hopefully he’ll be back training with us next Monday and then it’ll probably be a week of training before he can become available. He’s still probably a couple of weeks away.”

Morgan Fox (hamstring) is hoping to be back fit towards the end of the month too while goalkeepers Adam Davies and Angus Gunn returned to training last week.

Joe Allen has returned after the best part of 10 months out with a ruptured Achilles and John Obi Mikel and Sam Clucas are also fit again.

The squad has also been boosted by new arrivals Rhys Norrington-Davies, Rabbi Matondo and Jack Clarke.
