Live: Firefighters descend on incident in North Staffordshire street


Firefighters have been called to a major North Staffordshire road.

Eyewitnesses report between five and six fire engines have been spotted on Lower Street in Newcastle this afternoon.

Police officers are also believed to be on the scene.

There is no current indication about the nature of the incident.

One witness said: “Just been walking through Newcastle and there have just been six fire engines turn up to the flats opposite Morrison’s on the roundabout, all on blue lights, and police and fire cars.

“They’ve blocked the road off.”
