Man airlifted to hospital with ‘serious injuries’ after crashing into tree


A man was airlifted to hospital after crashing his car into a tree on a South Cheshire road.

The emergency services rushed to Nantwich Road in Chorley, near Nantwich, shortly before 9.15am yesterday (January 6).

On arrival they found a blue Peugeot 206 had crashed into a tree trapping the driver inside the vehicle.

The driver was freed by firefighters before being taken to hospital.

A Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “Firefighters were called following reports of a one vehicle collision on Nantwich Road.

“On arrival the crews found that a blue Peugeot 206 car had collided with a tree.

“Cheshire Police and the air ambulance were also in attendance.

“Firefighters liaised with paramedics and extricated the driver, a man, from the vehicle by removing the roof.

“The crews then passed the casualty into the care of paramedics. He was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries.”

Police officers are now hoping any witnesses will come forward.
