A man has been arrested after a PCSO was hit by a car at a North Staffordshire supermarket.
Emergency services were called to the scene at the Tesco car park, off Liverpool Road, Kidsgrove, just after 3pm this afternoon.
Paramedics treated the officer, who did not suffer any serious injuries, at the scene.
A 54-year-old man, from Stoke-on-Trent, was taken into custody on suspicion of several driving offences including being unfit to drive through drink or drugs and dangerous driving.
A Staffordshire Police spokeswoman said: “An on-duty police community support officer was involved in a collision with a black Renault Megane at Tesco car park on Liverpool Road just after 3pm.
“Fortunately he did not suffer any serious injuries, and has been checked over by colleagues from the ambulance service.
“A 54-year-old man, from Stoke-on-Trent, has been arrested on suspicion of disqualified driving, being unfit to drive through drink or drugs, driving without insurance and dangerous driving.
“He remains in custody.”
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “We were called by police at 3.17pm to reports of a collision involving a car and a pedestrian in Liverpool Road, Kidsgrove.
“We had one ambulance at the scene treating one patient, the pedestrian.”
Staffordshire Police are now appealing for any witnesses, or anyone with any information to come forward and call 101, quoting incident number 422 of March 5.
