Man arrested after single-vehicle collision on busy North Staffordshire road



A man has been arrested on suspicion of drink-driving after a single-vehicle collision on a busy North Staffordshire road.

Police officers were called to Porthill Bank in Porthill shortly before 10.30am to reports of a collision.

On arrival they discovered a van had collided with a lamppost.

A man was arrested at the scene.

A Staffordshire Police spokesman said: “We were called at 10.30am to reports of a road traffic collision on Porthill Bank, Newcastle.

“A white trailer box van was in collision with a lamppost by the zebra crossing.

“A 32-year-old man, from Newcastle, has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving. He remains in custody.”
