Man arrested as residents evacuated from Stoke-on-Trent street after bomb squad called


Residents have been evacuated from a Stoke-on-Trent street after the bomb squad were called.

The incident happened last night (Friday, November 6) in Mann Street, near to Lansbury Grove, in Meir.

Staffordshire Police have confirmed one man has been arrested.

A spokesman for the force said: “Officers have carried out a search at a residential address in Stoke-on-Trent.

“The search was carried out under the Explosives Act. A 46-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of explosion offences and is in police custody.

“EOD were called to the scene for an assessment following the search and nearby residents were evacuated as a precautionary measure.”

Eye-witnesses reported seeing the bomb squad as well as the police helicopter.
