Man arrested on suspicion of burglary after complaints from North Staffordshire families

A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted burglary and ‘going equipped’.

Families in the Stone area had complained a male had been seen trying the door handles in people’s back gardens.

The man – who has not been identified – tonight remains in custody.

And police officers are now urging residents to make sure their homes are secure.

PCSO Sarah Fordham from Staffordshire Police said: “The Police received reports last night (January 14) regarding a male trying back doors and going into people’s gardens in the Stone area.

“The male was later arrested for going equipped and attempt burglary and is currently in custody.

“Please can I advise everyone to ensure that back doors are locked, sheds are secure and to be vigilant.

“Local patrols will be carrying out regular patrols in key areas on foot and in vehicles.”

Anyone who sees anything suspicious should contact the police on 101.
