Man suffers eye injury after being shot by pellet in North Staffordshire



A man suffered a ‘minor eye injury’ after being shot by an air pellet.

Police officers were called to the Ball Haye Green Recreation Ground in the Haregate area of Leek shortly before 10pm on Saturday (September 5).

Eyewitnesses said the police helicopter was scouring the area after a ‘gang of youths’ were said to be causing havok.

Officers are now hoping any witnesses can come forward.

A Staffordshire Police spokesman said: “At around 10pm on Saturday (5 September) officers attended the Ball Haye Green area of Leek following reports of a man in his 30s being hit by an air pellet.

“He suffered a minor eye injury.

“An area search was carried out by armed officers with assistance from the National Police Air Service.

“No arrests have been made at this time.”
