Michael O’Neill has made his intentions pretty clear regarding the vast majority of Stoke City players out on loan… get rid this summer.
Stoke have done just that to spare O’Neill the embarrassment of having to take delivery of Giannelli Imbula back in the summer.
All three are out on loan until the end of the season and so are due to return to the club in pre-season as all three remain under contract.
Outlining exactly what he wants come pre-season and beyond, O’Neill stated: “We want to go into the new season with a really focused and hungry group of players.
“Not a group of players that are still technically Stoke City players, but ultimately aren’t at the club and not contributing to what we are trying to build here.”
Not that he is wasting too much time or breath on thinking about the likes of Bauer and Wimmer just yet.
“There’s not enough hours in the day for me to focus on players that aren’t at the club, trust me, and trying to get the club away from the situation we are in.
“We have six or seven players out on loan that may still come back in the summer, but you have to focus on the players that are here and where we believe we will have to strengthen going forward and the existing contract situations of the players at the club.
“These are all decisions that were taken before I came to the club and they are not situations that can be addressed before the summer anyway.
“So there’s no point me spending my energy in that area at this time.”
