A masked raider threatened an elderly woman with a screwdriver before stealing thousands of pounds from her home.
The man knocked on the woman’s house at approximately 6.45pm yesterday (February 27) and claimed to be a police officer when she initially came to the door.
When the victim opened the door to her Harington Drive home in Weston Coyney, the burglar pused her to the floor and threatened her with screwdriver before making off with thousands of pounds in cash.
A Staffordshire Police spokesman said: “The victim was taken to hospital with bruising to her arms and legs.
“We are asking for anyone to come forward if they witnessed the incident, saw any suspicious males, vehicles or activity in the area during the afternoon of 27 February.
“We are also appealing for anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage of the area to come forward.
“We have stepped up patrols in the area and are carrying out door to door inquiries.”
