More positive coronavirus cases confirmed in Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire



An additional 12 coronavirus cases in Staffordshire and eight in Stoke-on-Trent have been announced overnight.

According to latest figures from the Department of Health and Social Care there have now been 4,094 people who have tested positive in Staffordshire since the pandemic began.

Meanwhile in Stoke-on-Trent there have now been 1,694 cases of Covid-19 in the city since the daily figures were first announced in March.

But there have been no new deaths at any of the local hospitals and 12 across the entire United Kingdom.

Nationally there have been another 1,108 cases across the UK making the total number of positive cases 332,752 since March. Of those, 41,498 have died within 28 days of testing positive.

Confirmed coronavirus cases as of August 29:

  • Stoke-on-Trent     1,694   (up eight from yesterday)
  • Newcastle-under-Lyme     847   (up three from yesterday)
  • Staffordshire Moorlands     404   (up two from yesterday)
  • Stafford Borough     610    (up one from yesterday)
  • Cheshire East:   2,375   (up three from yesterday)
  • Staffordshire County (all Staffordshire authorities – including those in the south of the county – excluding Stoke-on-Trent):   4,094   (up 12 from yesterday)
