A cat often seen sleeping near the entrance to a North Staffordshire supermarket has officially been banned from the store – the company have confirmed
Jess is often seen around the foyer of the Morrisons in Leek.
The black and white feline is often seen near the trolley bay at the entrance to the store or sitting in the foyer itself.
A concerned shopper contacted the supermarket firm on social media website Twitter to ask whether rumours the cat had been barred from the premises.
Responding this morning, the company’s online customer service team confirmed that she had – but that the cat did not seem to be taking the ban seriously.
They replied: “I’ve spoken to the Duty Manager at Leek.
“Although Jess has been banned from store she appears to be pleasing herself.
“As a Food Retailer we have to take every precaution to make sure animals are not allowed in store as I’m sure you’ll appreciate unless this is a Guide Dog and with prior agreement with the Store Manager.
“Apparently Jess was knocking on the door with her paw this morning but now seems to be more interested in spotting pigeons.”
