Motorists face days of traffic chaos thanks to roadworks on a busy North Staffordshire roundabout.
Signs went up over the weekend warning families in Biddulph and Knypersley they face roadworks on the roundabout linking Wharf Road and Tunstall Road.
But families now say they have seen traffic backing up all the way to Brindley Ford on the first day the traffic lights were switched on.
One motorist said: “Biddulph and Knypersley are just like one big car park. It took over an hour and a half too and from Hanley.”
A notice to Staffordshire County Council says the work – by communications giant BT – will last until 11.59pm on Wednesday.
The closure notice states: “(The closure is) To build one precast chamber in 915mm x 445mm x 965mm deep in footway, and install 13m of one-way poly duct in the carriageway.
“And to Install 4m of one-way poly duct in the verge.”
