National retailer postpones opening of giant North Staffordshire store

Shoppers are able to have a sneak peek inside a new superstore before its grand opening.

The new multi-million pound Dunelm store had been due to open at Wolstanton Retail Park next month.

But the date has now been put back due to the latest national coronavirus restrictions.

It has been built between the existing M&S and Matalan stores. Construction staff have been working on the building throughout the coronavirus pandemic.

Now peepholes have been put on boards covering the windows of the store – allowing shoppers to have a sneak peek inside ahead of its opening.

Abel Moudi says he will visit the new store when it opens.

The 54-year-old, from Newcastle, said: “Dunelm is an interesting store and sells a lot of items.

“I do use Dunelm myself and I usually go to the Fenton branch. But I will start using this one when it opens as it is easier to drive to. It’s a bit of good news for people to hear. When I come to M&S, I will pop in.”
