Nearly half the flats at a city centre apartment block have been snapped up, ahead of its opening later this year.
Prospective tenants have reserved 67 out of the 151 apartments at the £22 million Clayworks complex, which is still under construction on Hanley’s Smithfield site.
The 11-storey Clayworks is the first build-to-rent scheme in Stoke-on-Trent and is aimed at young professionals and couples.
Smithfield developer Genr8 has built Clayworks for Fortior, Stoke-on-Trent City Council’s private housing company, and the building is due to be handed over in the last quarter of this year.
Studio apartments at Clayworks are available from £495 a month, with one bedroom apartments starting at £550 a month, and two-bedroom apartments starting at £750 a month.
These rents are markedly higher than at similar developments elsewhere in North Staffordshire, but demand appears to be high, even with the lockdown disrupting physical viewings of show apartment earlier in the year.

City council leader Abi Brown, who also chairs the board of Fortior, said: “The city centre living option provided by Clayworks is a real first for Stoke-on-Trent and it’s encouraging to see this level of uptake so far.
“The apartments are high-quality, modern and unlike anything else on the market in the city, so I’m not surprised almost half of them have already been snapped up.
“We’re all now looking forward to seeing the first wave of residents move in to their new homes very shortly, which will generate additional footfall in the area throughout the day and support nearby businesses, giving the city centre a timely economic boost.

Genr8 and Fortior appointed LIV Group, a management company which specialises in the build-to-rent sector, to operate and oversee the lettings of the apartments.
LIV has been conducting virtual viewings of the apartments to prospective renters during the lockdown.
People were able to reserve an apartment by paying a traditional deposit, or through the Reposit scheme, which involves paying a non-refundable fee equivalent to one week’s rent.
Clayworks will feature 43 studio apartments, 44 one-bedroom apartments and 64 two-bedroom apartments.
Tenants will also benefit from co-working spaces with superfast WiFi, a communal residents’ lounge, a rooftop garden with BBQ facilities, an on-site residents’ services manager.
