Coronavirus tests are available at the latest community testing centre to open in Stoke-on-Trent.
The tests are being offered at The Regent Centre, in Regent Road, in Hanley, today and tomorrow – although they must be booked in advance.
These appointments are in addition to the drive-through site at the bet365 Stadium and the walk-in facility at Fenton Manor Sports Complex, in Fenton.
It comes as 176 new coronavirus cases were confirmed in the Potteries on Wednesday – increasing the seven day rate to 366.7 per 100,000 cases.
Doctor Paul Edmondson-Jones, Stoke-on-Trent City Council’s director of adult social care, health integration and wellbeing, said: “New cases of the virus are continuing to rise in the city. If you have any suspicion of having coronavirus, we urge you to get a test. There is plenty of capacity. Testing is available seven days a week, if you start showing symptoms at the weekend, you must not wait until Monday, you must get a test straight away.
“It is vitally important that you self-isolate while you are waiting for test results. This includes anyone you live with and anyone in your support bubble.
“Please remember this means not visiting loved-ones, however hard that may be. It is the right thing to do to protect them and you.”
