Nottingham Forest weighing up decision about Port Vale favourite Jake Taylor

Nottingham Forest are taking a look at Jake Taylor during pre-season before deciding whether the 21 year old midfielder can go out on loan.

Taylor enjoyed his loan at Vale last season but Forest want the attacking midfielder training with their senior squad for at least the first two weeks of pre-season before making a decision about his future.

Taylor shone on loan at Vale Park, scoring seven goals in 25 appearances before his season was cut short by injury in January.

But, although Vale would love to have kept him, they expect interest from League One clubs if Forest do decide to allow him out on loan.

Taylor’s agent Phil Sproson reports there has already been interest from another League Two club and a tentative inquiry from League One after the youngster impressed in a behind closed doors game last week.

The Vale have strengthened their midfield by bringing in Danny Whitehead from Salford. He is competing with Luke Joyce, Tom Conlon, Manny Oyeleke and Scott Burgess for what has usually been a three-man midfield in a 4-3-3 system under John Askey.
