OAP attacked by masked man who broke into home and demanded cash in terrifying burglary



Police are hunting a masked man who attacked a pensioner in his own home before fleeing empty-handed in a terrifying burlgary.

The residents were at home in Station Road, Alsager, when a young man wearing a face covering burst in and demanded money.

He then assaulted the elderly man before running off in an unknown direction

Now detectives have launched an urgent appeal for witnesses and any CCTV or dashcam footage following the shocking incident, which happened at 6am today (November 10).

The offender was around 20 years old,  5ft 8in tall with a slim build and was wearing a dark parka-type with the furry hood up.

As he entered the house, his face was covered by a mask but he was no longer wearing it as he left.

Detective Inspector Claire Jesson said: “Thankfully, the elderly man who was assaulted only sustained minor injuries and did not need to go to hospital.

“However, this was a terrifying incident that has understandably left those who were in the house extremely shaken up.

“I would like to reassure residents that this is believed to be an isolated incident and we are doing everything we can to establish the identity of the offender and bring him to justice.

“Inquiries are ongoing and we are hoping that members of the public will aid our investigation by coming forward with relevant information or footage concerning the burglary incident.

“Perhaps you were in the area and saw the offender, either before he entered the house or as he was fleeing the scene.

“Or maybe you have CCTV or dashcam footage of him, or believe that you may know who he is.”
