Officers make arrest after 20 police cars responded to man in distress at Stoke-on-Trent house



Police have made an arrest after being called to a man in distress at a Stoke-on-Trent house.

Emergency services were scene surrounding a semi-detached house on Broadway, Meir, at around 4.45pm today (June 11).

After negotiating with the man for almost an hour, he came out of the house at around 5.30pm.

The man, aged 54, was arrested for a public order offence.

The road was blocked off while the incident was ongoing, but has since fully reopened to traffic.

A Staffordshire Police spokesman said: “Officers were called to a man in distress at an address on Broadway in Meir after receiving a call at 4.45pm today (11 June).

“After negotiating with officers the male came out at 5.34pm. A 54-year-old man was arrested for a public order offence.”

An eyewitness, who wished to remain anonymous, said: “The officers were surrounding a house on Broadway. There were around 20 people watching in the street. They then took a man away in a police car.”
