Former Stoke City boss Tony Pulis has been appointed as the new manager of Sheffield Wednesday.
The 62-year-old replaces Garry Monk at Hillsborough.
It is his first job since he left Middlesbrough in 2019 – and he will take up his 11th managerial post when the Owls face Preston next Saturday when the Championship season resumes following the international break.
His return to management was confirmed in a statement by the club.
It read: “Sheffield Wednesday are pleased to announce the appointment of Tony Pulis as our new first team manager.
“Pulis brings a wealth of experience to Hillsborough having overseen a mammoth 1,123 senior games through almost three decades in the dugout.”
Here’s what Sheffield Wednesday fans have been saying on Twitter:
Josh Naughton: Oh dear
Marc: Gotta give him a chance, won’t be judging for a good couple of months
