Parents warned as Stoke-on-Trent park becomes no-go area for children at night

Parents are being urged to make sure they know where their children are at night and weekends as more young people are being stabbed.

It comes as Staffordshire Police are urging children to stay away from the crime-hit Burslem Park.

Recent incidents have included gangs of 50 youths drinking and fighting in the park and a 16-year-old boy being arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

And there has also been an increase in anti-social behaviour within the park on Repington Road, in Sneyd Green.

The police warning states: “There has recently been an increase in knife crime injuries in the city. There are also issues with Burslem Park which seems to be the focus for criminal activity. Please encourage your child to stay away from this area.

“Repington Road park has also seen an increase in anti-social behaviour. Please be mindful of this if your child socialises in this area.”

The message continued: “There is also more prevalence of young people utilising vapes and using them to consume other drugs.”

Anyone with any information about these trouble hotspots should call the police on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
