Pictures as firefighters tackle blaze at disused John Tams factory



Firefighters are tackling a blaze at the disused John Tams factory in Longton.

Crews from Hanley and Longton were dispatched to the old Crown Works building in Commerce Street at around 4.36pm this afternoon following reports of smoke.

Police have blocked Market Street while firefighters deal with the incident and traffic is being diverted down Millbank Street.

A Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman said: “The fire service was called at 4.36pm to reports of smoke coming from a property in Commerce Street, Longton.

“Crews from Hanley and Longton are in attendance at the old Crown Works building while colleagues from Staffordshire Police have closed the road.”

Five fire crews are now in attendance.
