Plymouth Argyle release six but ex Port Vale and Stoke City forwards are under contract

Plymouth Argyle have released six players but offered contracts to a further ten at the end of their League Two season.

The Pilgrims have become the latest club to announce their retained list – publishing details well ahead of the June 23 deadline agreed by EFL clubs.

The Plymouth players released are: Alex Fletcher, Joel Grant, Tafari Moore, Michael Peck, Tom Purrington and Ryan Taylor.

The players offered new deals are: Niall Canavan, Conor Grant, Luke Jephcott, Ryan Law, Klaidi Lolos, Callum McFadzean, Adam Randell, Antoni Sarcevic, Gary Sawyer, Scott Wootton.

The news comes at the end of a successful season for Ryan Lowe’s side who are expected to have automatic promotion confirmed by a meeting of League Two clubs today.

Former Stoke City striker Dom Telford and ex Port Vale winger Bryron Moore are under contract at Home Park so not affected by the retained list.

Plymouth were third when the season was suspended in mid-March and so will be promoted if clubs opt to settle the season on points per game.

That is expected to be voted through because clubs indicated they were in favour at a League Two meeting last month.

The Vale beat Plymouth 1-0 in Burslem in September and were due to play at Home Park on the final game of the regular season. But the campaign was suspended because of the coronavirus crisis before League Two clubs agreed to abandon the rest of the fixtures.
