Police appeal after ‘suspicious man’ offers chimney sweeping in North Staffordshire village



Police officers are urging families to remain vigilant after a ‘suspicious man’ was seen knocking on doors saying he worked as a chimney sweep.

They say the man was going around Biddulph Moor wearing a black jacket.

He is also believed to have been asking about cars parked on driveways and whether or not the homeowners wanted to sell them.

Anyone who saw the man is now being urged to come forward.

PCSO Stephen Sherratt from Staffordshire Police said: “We have had reports of a suspicious male in the Biddulph Moor area.

“He has been knocking on doors asking if people want their Chimney swept, any work need doing at peoples property and also enquiry about their vehicles, if they want to sale them.

“He was seen in a white ford cmax part vrm DL69. He was described as a white male 5ft 8in tall. He had a beard. Swept back hair. He was wearing a black jacket.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Staffordshire Police on 101 quoting incident 385 of November 11.
