Police appeal for dashcam footage after dog unit called in during pursuit

Police are appealing for dashcam footage as they continue the investigation into a pursuit which needed the dog unit to be called in.

The incident began at around 1.45pm yesterday when a Mercedes failed to stop for officers while travelling through Hanley.

Chasing the vehicle through the city centre, the pursuit came to an end in Leek Road when the occupants fled the scene on foot.

The dog unit was then called in to assist with the search for the suspects before three men, aged 27, 32 and 26, were arrested on suspicion of motoring offences.

The 27-year-old and the 32-year-old have since been released without charge, while the 26-year-old has been released under investigation while inquiries continue.

A Staffordshire Police spokesman urged any witnesses – and motorists with dashcam footage – to get in touch with the force.

He added: “Anyone with any information should message Staffordshire Police on Facebook or Twitter quoting incident number 0296 of January 12, call 101 or alternatively contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
