Police block busy North Staffordshire road after tractor and trailer overturn with cow inside

Police have closed two roads after a tractor towing a trailer overturned on a junction – with a cow inside.

Officers shut sections of Congleton Road and Grange Road, in Biddulph, as they attempted to get the stricken animal out of the trailer.

It eventually needed eight people to get it in a waiting trailer. The drama unfolded this afternoon.

One motorist said: “The tractor was coming from Congleton when it overturned on the junction. There was a cow in the trailer and you could hear it struggling inside.

“A smaller trailer came for the cow. It took eight people to get it inside. It must have been petrified.”

Anyone with any information about the incident should call Staffordshire Police on 101.
