Police called after customer ‘verbally abuses’ Tesco keyworker

Police officers attended a South Cheshire Tesco superstore after a customer ‘verbally abused’ a shopworker.

Officers from Cheshire Police attended Tesco Extra in Vernon Way, Crewe, earlier today (January 15).

During the coronavirus crisis supermarket staff have been classed as keyworkers helping to keep the nation fed.

But officers say a customer became abusive in the store.

They have now moved to remind families of the coronavirus rules.

A Cheshire Police spokesman said: “We have attended Tesco in relation to a customer verbally abusing a member of staff at the entrance.

“Please treat staff with respect, follow the guidelines and shop alone unless you are a carer with children.”
