Police called after lorry leaves carriageway and lands in field following crash on M6



A lorry left the carriageway and landed in a field following a crash with a car on the M6 in the early hours of this morning (January 15).

Emergency services were called at around 2am to the southbound carriageway of the motorway between junctions 17, for Sandbach/Crewe, and 16, for Stoke-on-Trent/Crewe.

The lorry came to rest in a field after the HGV collided with a silver Vokswagen Golf causing it to leave the carriageway.

Two lanes remain closed while recovery work takes place.

There were no injuries as a result of the collision.

A Cheshire Police spokesman said: “At around 2am on Friday 15 January police were called to reports of a collision on the M6 southbound between junctions 17 and 16.

“Officers attended the scene and found a HGV had collided with a silver Volkswagen Golf, causing the HGV to leave the carriageway and stop in a nearby field.

“There were no injuries as a result of the incident.

“Two lanes remain closed at the current time while recovery work takes place.”
