Police called after ‘suspicious device’ found in Stoke-on-Trent street


Police were called to a Stoke-on-Trent after a ‘suspicious device’ was found in the area.

Officers were dispatched to Stone Street, Penkhull, not far from The Willows Primary School, shortly after 3pm this afternoon.

On arrival an inspection of the item was carried out and it was found to have been a stripped lithium battery.

The battery has since been disposed of.

A member of the public had found the device on the school run and reported it to police.

A Staffordshire Police spokeswoman said: “We were called at 3pm to reports of a suspicious item in Stone Street, Penkhull.

“Officers attended and found a stripped lithium battery which has been disposed of.”
