Police have been called to reports of a man in distress on the Stoke-on-Trent flyover.
Officers were sent to the A53 Etruria Road, Etruria, at 9.56am today (May 22).
A Staffordshire Police spokesman said: “We got a call at 9.56am today to a man in distress on the southbound bridge over the A53. We’re now with him and officers are speaking to him.”
West Mildlands Ambulance Service say they have been called to the Northern Area Custody Facility in Etruria after the man was talked down from the bridge.
A spokeswoman said: “We were called by the police at 10.09am to the custody suite in Etruria and we currently have one ambulance on route.”
Traffic monitoring company Inrix, says the exit slip road is now open. It states: “Earlier police incident on A500 D Road Southbound at A53 Etruria Road (Basford Roundabout).
“The exit slip road was briefly closed.”
