Police cordon in Chesterton – in pictures
A road was cordoned off in an area of North Staffordshire this evening after armed police were called following an assault. Police closed Victoria Street, Chesterton, after being called just after 7.30pm tonight. A helicopter was also deployed to the scene. The road remained shut for several hours while a search was conducted. A 16-year-old boy has now been arrested in connection with the incident and remains in custody. The person injured in the assault was taken to hospital. Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. Our reporter Matt Simpson was at the scene.
