Police cordon off two Stoke-on-Trent streets amid reports of man being ‘stabbed’



Police have cordoned off two streets and a path after reports of a man being stabbed.

Marked cars and a van are guarding the crime scene in Compton Street and Whitmore Street, in Hanley, this afternoon.

StokeonTrentLive readers say it follows an incident at around 11pm last night. They understand a man was injured by a machete-wielding attacker and taken to the Royal Stoke University Hospital. The medical condition of the victim is not known.

One resident said: “The police have been at the top of Whitmore Street all night. I’ve heard someone was hit with a machete. The police are doing house-to-house inquiries.”
