Police officers discovered £3,000 of stolen cosmetics in the back of a car in Stoke-on-Trent.
Officers from the Central Motorway Policing Group stopped the vehicle in the city last night (February 25).
They initially believed the vehicle had no tax.
However after discovering the goods they arrested three people.
A Staffordshire Police spokesman said: “Officers stopped a Vaxhall Zafira for suspected no tax.
“On checking the vehicle, a large amount of stolen goods were found in the boot, cosmetics believed to be in excess of £3,000.
