Police have found a missing woman after armed officers were called in following reports a man wielding a firearm had been seen in a Stoke-on-Trent street.
Officers, alongside the police dog unit, were dispatched to Scotia Road, Burslem, shortly before 10pm last night.
On arrival a number of air weapons and a knife were found and seized before a man was arrested on suspicion of possessing a firearm with intent to endanger life and affray.
The 50-year-old, from Stoke-on-Trent, remains in police custody.
The missing woman, aged 38, was found safe and well.
A Staffordshire Police spokesman said: “We were called to Scotia Road in Stoke-on-Trent shortly before 10pm on Wednesday, April 22, to reports a man had been seen with a firearm.
“Armed officers and police dogs attended where they seized air weapons and a knife. A 50-year-old man from Stoke-on-Trent was arrested on suspicion of the possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life and affray.
“He remains in police custody. A 38-year-old woman – who’d been reported missing – was also found safe and well.”
