A woman was discovered dead at home after her friends raised the alarm.
Police found the body of Jenna Halliday after forcing their way into her flat on Wellington Street, in Hanley, on December 13.
The 35-year-old had not been seen by her friends for nine days when she had been happy about getting a new job and joked about ‘going to get some heroin’.
The cause of death has yet to be ascertained.
North Staffordshire assistant coroner Sarah Murphy said: “The police were contacted on December 13 by friends who said they had not seen Jenna for nine days.
“They say they last had contact with her when she seemed happy about getting a new job and she made a joke about going to get some heroin.
“She was not a habitual drug user. Officers attended and forced entry to the flat and found the deceased lying in bed on her right side.
“The police say there are no suspicious circumstances. The family will be given a progress update in six weeks time and inquest date will be set administratively.”
