Police are this morning guarding a property at the centre of a murder investigation launched following the death of a woman.
Officers, along with paramedics, were first called to South Walk in Meir at around midday on Thursday to reports of a woman in cardiac arrest.
The woman, in her 30s, was rushed to the Royal Stoke University Hospital but, despite the best efforts of the medics, she died yesterday morning.
Staffordshire Police subsequently launched murder investigation and arrested a Sandwell man in connection with the death.
The 35-year-old has since been released on conditional bail pending further inquiries, which continue today.
A police spokeswoman said: “A 35-year-old man, from Sandwell, West Midlands, was arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with the death and released on conditional bail pending further inquiries.
