Police officers are hunting two hooded yobs who torched a car late last night.
Firefighters were called to Whitlow Avenue in Nantwich on Saturday after two unknown men were seen attacking a white Chevrolet Cruze at around 10.30pm.
They smashed the car’s windows before torching it and running off.
Crews spent more than two hours at the scene tackling the blaze and making the vehicle safe.
Police officers believe both men were slim and around 5ft 10 tall. Officers say they were wearing dark clothing and had hoods that covered they faces.
Inquiries into the incident are now ongoing.
Detective Constable Lloyd, of Cheshire Police, said: “We are in the early stages of our investigation and want to hear from anyone with information or footage regarding the two offenders.
“Perhaps you live in the area and witnessed the incident or saw the offenders, either before they attacked the car or as they were fleeing the scene.
“I also ask people in the area to check their CCTV cameras to see if they have any footage of the pair travelling to or leaving the scene.
“At the current time there shouldn’t be many people out and about so the men should be easy to spot.”
Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service confirmed a crew from Nantwich attended the scene.
A spokesman added: “At around 10.30pm firefighters were dispatched to reports of a car fire on Whitlow Avenue, Nantwich.
“On arrival the crew found that a car had been deliberately set alight.
“Firefighters used two hose reel jets to extinguish the fire, they then used a thermal imaging camera to check for any hotspots.”
