Police investigating after arsonists set fire to garden shed


Police are investigating after arsonists set fire to a garden shed in the early hours of the morning.

Firefighters were called to Smith Grove in Crewe at around 12.30am today after receiving multiple reports of an outbuilding on fire.

The two crews, wearing breathing apparatus, spent two hours at the scene extinguishing the blaze.

A Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said the cause is thought to be deliberate and urged anyone with information to get in touch with Cheshire Police.

He said: “At around 12.30am firefighters received multiple calls reporting a fire in an outbuilding on Smith Grove, Crewe.

“Two fire engines from Crewe were dispatched to the scene and on arrival they found a garden shed which was well alight.

“Firefighters, wearing breathing apparatus, used two hose reel jets to extinguish the fire and dampen down the scene.

“The crews were in attendance for around two hours.

“The cause of the fire is believed to be deliberate and anyone with any information is asked to call Cheshire Police on 101 quoting IML 932932.”
