Police officers are hunting two e-scooter riders who ‘failed to stop’ in a Staffordshire town.
The Staffordshire Police Road Policing Unit (RPU) – a team of dedicated traffic cops – spotted the two riders in the Burton Manor area of Stafford.
The duo allegedly opted to ride off rather than stop for the officers.
Police are now trying to track them down.
A Staffordshire Police spokesman said: “Private e-scooters are not road legal and can not be used on the roads in the UK.
“These pair failed to stop in the Burton Manor area of Stafford. If you know who they are, feel free to contact us.”
While some parts of Staffordshire – including Stafford and Newcastle – are currently trialling e-scooter schemes, private vehicles are not deemed road legal in the UK.
This is because they are considered ‘motor vehicles’ meaning they would be subject to the rules regarding MOT, tax, licensing and specific construction.
