Police have launched an appeal for witnesses after a 12-year-old boy was savagely attacked in a skate park.
And his friend – 11-year-old Ruby Malpass – was forced to run for life as a gang chased her across the park at around 4.20pm.
It is believed some of the gang – made up of girls and older boys aged in their mid-teens – were armed with knives and some were wearing balaclavas.
Both children, from Burslem, missed school on Monday as they recovered from the psychological trauma.
Now officers want to hear from anyone who witnessed the shocking incident.
A Staffordshire Police spokesman said: “We were contacted on Saturday to a report of an assault at Burslem Park on Hamil Road.
“The incident took place at around 4.20pm at the skate park. A 12-year-old boy suffered facial injuries.”
Any witnesses or anyone with any information is asked to call 101, quoting incident number 936 of March 8.
