Police issue statement after schoolboy, 12, repeatedly punched at Stoke-on-Trent skate park

Police have launched an appeal for witnesses after a 12-year-old boy was savagely attacked in a skate park.

Callum Odonoghue was punched in the face three times during the horrific ordeal in Burslem Park last Saturday (March 8).

And his friend – 11-year-old Ruby Malpass – was forced to run for life as a gang chased her across the park at around 4.20pm.

It is believed some of the gang – made up of girls and older boys aged in their mid-teens – were armed with knives and some were wearing balaclavas.

Both children, from Burslem, missed school on Monday as they recovered from the psychological trauma.

“The incident took place at around 4.20pm at the skate park. A 12-year-old boy suffered facial injuries.”

Any witnesses or anyone with any information is asked to call 101, quoting incident number 936 of March 8.
