Police have named a man charged with multiple offences after a hit-and-run involving a stolen Audi.
Officers were dispatched to London Road in Oakhill shortly after 12.30am yesterday following reports of a collision in which a white Audi had driven off in the direction of Sainsbury’s in Stoke.
The vehicle, which had been reported stolen from Bentilee the previous morning, was later spotted in Weston Coyney and eventually brought to a stop in Bentilee at around 2.15am by officers using stingers.
Driver Ben Leadbeater was detained at the scene and has now been charged with several offences, including:
- taking a vehicle without consent
- three counts of dangerous driving
- failing to provide a specimen of breath for analysis
- theft from a shop
- two counts of driving whilst disqualified
- two counts of driving without insurance
The 27-year-old of Bank Street, Tunstall, appeared before magistrates this morning.
