Police name man charged after woman stabbed in early-morning shop attack



Police have named the man charged after a woman was stabbed in an early morning attack at a shop.

Officers were called to the Premier Store in Shady Grove, Alsager, on Friday after the victim – a 49-year-old woman – was stabbed in the abdomen.

She was taken to the Royal Stoke University Hospital where she is making a good recovery from her injuries.

The following day, officers at the Crewe Local Policing Unit arrested Ben Beardsall in relation to the attack. Police were seen at Goss Place in connection to the incident.

Yesterday he was detained under Section 2 of the Mental Health Act and has today been charged with wounding with intent and possession of a knife in a public place.

The 26-year-old, of Lawton Road, Alsager, has been remanded in custody and is set to appear at Warrington Magistrates today.
