Police name motorcyclist, 28, who died in accident on North Staffordshire road

Police have named a 28-year-old Stoke-on-Trent motorcyclist who died following a traffic collision in a North Staffordshire town yesterday morning.

William Langham came off his Honda motorcycle while travelling along Cheltenham Avenue towards Ness Grove, Cheadle, at around 8.40am on Thursday.

Despite the efforts of passers-by and paramedics nothing could be done to save him and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Staffordshire Police say the family of Mr Langham, who was from Trentham, are being supported by specialist officers.

No other vehicles are involved believed to have been involved in the accident – and an investigation into the collision continues.

A police spokeswoman said:  “Officers from the Staffordshire and West Midlands Serious Collision Investigation Unit are appealing for witnesses who have not yet spoken with them to contact 101 quoting incident 121 of 23 April or email ciu@staffordshire.pnn.police.uk.

“We would like to remind the public not to speculate on social media with regards to the cause or circumstances of the collision.”
