Police have named the Stoke-on-Trent man who has been extradited from Sweden over the murder of a North Staffordshire grandmother.
Officers discovered the body of Wendy Morse ‘covered’ in plastic sheeting on the floor of her conservatory after smashing their way into her Knypersley home earlier this year.
The 71-year-old had been reported missing on Mothers’ Day, March 22, by concerned relatives.
An investigation was carried out at the Tunstall Road property, which was temporarily boarded up, before a European Arrest Warrant was issued in the Scandinavian country.
And today, after being extradited back to the UK, Kenneth McDermid, of Sneyd Green, appeared before North Staffordshire magistrates this morning charged with her murder.
The 42-year-old was arrested on suspicion of murder by Swedish authorities and held in custody until the extradition proceedings were complete.
McDermid will next appear at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court on Friday, May 22.
