Police name two defendants charged with murder after death of Stoke-on-Trent man



Two defendants are due in court later this week after being charged with the murder of a 26-year-old man.

It is expected that the two men – Richard Street, aged 29, and 45-year-old Alan Martyn – will appear via a video link at North Staffordshire Justice Centre.

The men – who do not have permanent addresses – have been charged by detectives investigating the death of Anas Chergat.

It is now seven months since Anas was pronounced dead at his home on the junction of Sandon Street and Josiah Wedgwood Street, in Etruria, on August 23.

A post-mortem examination has revealed Anas died from stab wounds.

The two defendants are in custody ahead of their first court hearing on Wednesday, April 1.

A Staffordshire Police spokesman said: “Both men are in custody.”
