Police negotiation with man in crisis on Stoke-on-Trent bridge ends with arrest



Police have arrested a man in crisis on a Stoke-on-Trent bridge after more than two hours of negotiation.

Officers were called to the scene in Times Square, Longton, at around 4.30pm yesterday afternoon and began a dialogue with the man.

Negotiations continued beyond 6.30pm in the evening before the man was eventually taken into custody.

A Staffordshire Police spokesman said: “We were called to reports of a man in distress in Times Square, Longton, at around 4.30pm yesterday afternoon.

“The man was taken into custody.”
